Abscess in Appendix

One of the complications of a burst #appendix is the formation of something called #abscess around the area where the burst has happened. An abscess is a collection of pus around the area. This collection of pus is because the body's immune system has been fighting the infection.

The treatment for abscess is usually administering antibiotics. But before administering the antibiotics, when appendectomy is done, the pus in the abscess area is drained mandatory as part of the cleaning of the abdomen.
